FAQs

  • We operate our accessible care home trips service on an annual subscription model. This means that you have access to excursions all year round. We know that the benefits of our outings are amplified when they happen on a regular basis. Teams become more confident and proficient in planning their excursions, and residents have events in the diary to anticipate and look forward to.

As you would imagine, our scheduled destinations look slightly different at different times of the year, but we know that the benefits of getting out and about are just as powerful at all times of the year and whatever the weather.

  • Even in bad weather?

We are committed to offering our accessible outings service throughout the year, and we adapt our delivery accordingly. There are so many benefits to being outdoors throughout the seasons, so come rain or shine we will be with you to support your accessible care home outings.

Of course, situations may arise where you may find yourselves needing to change your trip destination, especially outdoor venues that rely on good weather for example. All we ask is if you are wanting to change the destination of your planned trip is to contact your Conductor or Scheduling Manager via email or by phone as far in advance of your trip date as possible so that we can make the necessary accommodations

  • All our vehicles have a minimum of 8 seats and are all accessible for wheelchair users. Each region has its own standard seating configuration, which usually includes 1-2 fixed wheelchair spaces. The details of the vehicle in your region will always be supplied in your onboarding session so that you can plan group sizes accordingly.

  • Attending a care home outing with an elderly family member or friend living in a care home can be a wonderful way of spending some meaningful time together. We actively encourage additional travellers and volunteers to join our accessible outings, however, it is important to make sure that each seat on the bus is provided to those who need it the most, these are often residents with mobility difficulties.

If space is limited, we recommend arranging for an additional vehicle to travel to the destination separately so that any additional group members can attend.

  • Offering accessible outings for elderly and frail care home residents can come with risks. We take our responsibility to our care home client’s safety extremely seriously and so our Conductors receive comprehensive training before running their first outing. This includes Myley experience and disability awareness training, MiDAS accessible vehicle training, and an enhanced DBS check.
